Eldercare

Eldercare

In 1633, the first Daughters of Charity ministered to those who were ill and dying in their homes in Paris.

Eventually, hospitals were staffed and administered by the Daughters of Charity throughout France. Today, the Daughters of Charity continue to serve the sick and suffering throughout the world, responding to the cries of the sick poor through the ministry of healthcare. In the Province of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, this work is done in our ministries with those who are elderly and infirmed.

We believe that we are called to respect and honor the dignity of life in all its stages, from conception to a dignified death. In California, the Daughters of Charity administer assisted living and nursing care for seniors, a large senior nutrition program, low-income senior housing, and resource services for people of all ages who need accompaniment in navigating assistance for themselves or their loved ones.
