Social Service

The Daughters of Charity have been ministering to those who are poor through social services from our founding.

Our foundress, St. Louise de Marillac, is the Patron Saint of Social Workers. She had the gift of organizing and delivering social services efficiently and with respect and dignity.

Today, the Daughters of Charity provide social services in many diverse settings affecting systemic change and breaking the cycle of poverty.

We sponsor ministries that provide:

  • early childhood programs
  • housing
  • children and family services
  • recovery services
  • food and nutrition
  • vocational training
  • self-sufficiency
  • clothing
  • restorative justice
  • advocacy
  • parish ministry
  • other ways to address the needs of those who live in poverty

Totally given to God, in a spirit of humility, simplicity and charity for the service of those who are poor since 1633.
